AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings has completed a major phase of its €22 million expansion of its Pamiers production site in France, boosting manufacturing capacity, technical capabilities and environmental performance.
The investment is part of the company’s long-term strategy to improve operational excellence while strengthening support for customers in the growing aerospace coatings market. The upgraded facility will expand European production capacity, improve workflow efficiency and accelerate the development of next-generation coating technologies.
A central element of the project is a new warehouse adding more than 2,000 m² of storage space for raw materials and finished products. The facility includes temperature-controlled storage cells designed to improve product preservation and inventory management.
AkzoNobel has also completed a new 638 m² waste management facility equipped with next-generation sprinkler systems to enhance operational safety. The company has upgraded its Quality Control and Production Services operations, including four new application cabins, a dedicated chromate-products cabin, and eight new laboratory benches with integrated extraction hoods, increasing Quality Control capacity by 166%.
Manufacturing capabilities have also been strengthened with new precision weighing systems, additional paint tanks and an automatic bead mill dedicated to next-generation non-chromate coatings. A redesigned production layout is expected to improve workflow, flexibility and manufacturing efficiency.
The overall development project remains on schedule, with final construction and equipment installation expected to be completed by the end of 2026. An official inauguration is planned for 2027.
