Boeing and Lufthansa Technik Defense have agreed the general terms for sustaining Germany’s future CH-47F Block II Chinook heavy-lift helicopter fleet, laying the groundwork for a long-term support partnership.
The agreement, signed on Wednesday at the Farnborough International Airshow, establishes the framework for a future main contract under which Lufthansa Technik, working with Boeing, will develop an agile network of spare parts warehouses to support German CH-47F operating bases.
Through its subsidiary, Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services, Lufthansa Technik will contribute decades of expertise in time-critical spare parts logistics. Combined with Boeing’s platform knowledge, the partnership will provide tailored parts provisioning, transport and warehousing services for the German Armed Forces. Lufthansa Technik is also expected to manage the supply of consumables and expendables (C&E) for the Chinook fleet.
The CH-47F agreement builds on the companies’ growing cooperation in supporting German military platforms acquired through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales programme.
In autumn 2025, Boeing and Lufthansa Technik Defense signed a comprehensive sustainment services agreement for the German Navy’s P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft. Covering aircraft maintenance, component support, engine condition monitoring, technical training and qualification, the programme is designed to enhance the availability and mission readiness of one of Germany’s key airborne defence assets.
