Icelandair has agreed to lease six Airbus A320neo aircraft from Aircastle, further advancing its fleet renewal programme. The Pratt & Whitney-powered aircraft, built between 2018 and 2020, are scheduled to enter service before summer 2028.
The agreement follows the airline’s recently announced lease of four A320neos from AviLease, due to join the fleet in spring 2027. Together with three Airbus A321LRs arriving later this year, the additions will increase Icelandair’s Airbus fleet to 20 aircraft.
The new leases support Icelandair’s strategy to replace older Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft with more fuel-efficient, new-generation models. The airline plans to end passenger operations with the 757 and 767 from January 2027, with the renewed fleet expected to reduce fuel consumption by up to 30% per seat while supporting network growth and fleet simplification.
