RECARO Aircraft Seating (RECARO) has introduced the R4, its next-generation premium-class aircraft seat, designed to combine improved ergonomics and passenger comfort with greater flexibility for airlines.
The R4 succeeds the PL3530, which entered service in 2015. The new seat is ETSO-certified for the Boeing 787, with additional certifications in progress. Deliveries began in June 2026, with entry into service expected later this year.
Building on RECARO’s expertise in lightweight seating, the R4 features a 16-inch monitor, a six-way adjustable headrest with integrated neck support, side ambient lighting and privacy wings with integrated reading lights. A range of power options is also available to support passenger connectivity throughout the flight.
The seat is designed to combine passenger comfort with operational flexibility. Its side console includes dedicated access for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM), while a newly developed extra-wide single-plate tray table features a soft open-and-close mechanism and an integrated holder for smartphones and tablets.
Airlines can also customise the R4’s colours, trim and finishes, allowing them to create a premium-class cabin aligned with their individual brand identity.
