Aera Aviation Capital (AERA) has arranged the acquisition of two portfolios comprising eight commercial passenger aircraft with a combined value of more than US$300 million, marking its first transaction since the company’s launch.
The portfolios are made up predominantly of new-technology Airbus A320neo-family and Boeing 737 Max aircraft leased to a diversified global customer base of full-service and low-cost airlines.
The transactions mark AERA’s first collaboration with Macquarie Asset Management (MAM). The portfolio acquisitions were funded by capital from a Macquarie-managed fund, alongside debt financing from MUFG Bank Ltd. AERA will manage the aircraft portfolios.
The deals were originated and arranged by AERA, which said they represent its entry into the aircraft-leasing market.
“We are pleased to announce AERA’s first aviation transaction,” Chief Executive Officer Kieran Corr said. “We are excited to work with MAM — an investor with a global outlook and a long-term commitment to the aviation sector. It is a vote of confidence in the AERA team and its established reputation for expertise in the leasing sector.”
