Private equity investor AURELIUS has completed its acquisition of British aerospace and defence company Marshall Aerospace, providing a new ownership base for the business as it seeks to expand its operations.
Marshall Aerospace specialises in military MRO, aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing. Its customers include the Royal Norwegian Air Force and the US Marine Corps, while its industry partners include Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Thales.
Recent contract awards include a multi-year agreement to support the entry into service and sustainment of 12 C-130J aircraft acquired by Turkey’s Ministry of National Defence, and a 14-year contract with Thales to manufacture sonar modules for the Royal Navy.
The acquisition combines Marshall Aerospace’s engineering capabilities, workforce and programme delivery experience with AURELIUS’ operational expertise and long-term investment approach, the companies said.
The new ownership is expected to support the company’s next phase of growth and create opportunities to contribute to defence programmes in the UK and allied countries.
The transaction establishes Marshall Aerospace as an independent, mid-sized British aerospace and defence company under AURELIUS ownership.
“This change of ownership is an important new chapter for Marshall Aerospace as an independent mid-tier British aerospace and defence company,” the company’s leadership said.
“In AURELIUS, we have found an owner that recognises the strength of our capabilities and the importance of the work we are delivering for our customers. Just as importantly, they have the expertise and resources to back our next phase of growth and capitalise on emerging opportunities as the defence industry continues to transform.”
