Textron Aviation has received an order from the US Civil Air Patrol (CAP) for 21 additional Cessna piston aircraft to support emergency response, training and community missions across the United States, with deliveries due to be completed in 2027.

The order comprises seven Cessna Skyhawk 172s, 11 Skylane 182s, two Turbo Skylane T182Ts and one Turbo Stationair HD 206. CAP is the world’s largest operator of Cessna aircraft.

The new aircraft will help CAP conduct search-and-rescue operations, respond to natural disasters and support youth aviation programmes, the organisation said. “Our longstanding relationship with Textron Aviation helps give our members the reliable aircraft they need to serve our communities, states and the nation,” said Major General Regena Aye, CAP’s national commander and chief executive.

Civil Air Patrol, a non-profit organisation and auxiliary of the US Air Force, supports military and government agencies through emergency services, joint training and youth programmes. The organisation has about 72,000 members, including 35,000 adults and 37,000 young people, operating from 1,424 locations nationwide. Its fleet includes 543 single-engine aircraft, supported by thousands of emergency services personnel.
