Atlantic Airways, the Faroe Islands’ national airline, has placed a firm order with Airbus for two A320neo aircraft as it moves towards an all-A320neo fleet.
The order is intended to improve operational efficiency and streamline maintenance through a common fleet.
Atlantic Airways currently operates four A320-family aircraft, comprising two A320ceos and two A320neos.
“Our ambition is to operate an exclusively A320neo aircraft fleet in the near future, and this agreement marks a significant step towards achieving that goal,” said Niels Mortensen, Chairman of Atlantic Airways’ board. He said the investment would support fleet renewal and efficient operations.
The A320 family has secured more than 20,400 orders worldwide, making it the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft family, Airbus said. The aircraft offer fuel savings and carbon dioxide emissions reductions of at least 20% compared with previous-generation single-aisle models, while providing a wide cabin designed to improve passenger comfort.
