Volvo Aero Norge signs agreement with P&W for additional F135 engine work

Volvo Aero Norge (VAN) has signed a three year agreement with Pratt & Whitney to manufacture another critical component for the F135 engine program. The agreement has an estimated value of 3 million USD. The agreement is for manufacturing of diffuser cases for the F135 engine, the engine for the F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter). The diffuser case diffuses and regulates the airflow in the engine, allowing the combustor to work most efficiently. VAN is also the exclusive manufacturer of the F135 low pressure turbine shaft and other parts are currently being evaluated. The total potential for VAN for the entire F135 program is significant over the life of the program. The F135 engine program is expected to last until 2040.
