Last month, StandardAero celebrated its 1,000th CFM International CFM56-7B shop visit, supporting a major North American operator of Boeing’s 737 NG passenger jet. StandardAero is an authorised service partner for the CFM56-7B turbofan engine, which it supports through a General Support License Agreement (GSLA).

StandardAero launched its CFM56-7B programme in June 2009, when its Winnipeg, MB location was appointed as a GE Aerospace Designated Fulfilment Centre (DFC) for the engine, providing offload maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to airlines supported under long-term agreements with GE. StandardAero’s success in workscope control on unscheduled engine removals (UERs), combined with the company’s engineering capabilities and convenient North American location, led to GE sending repair and investigation type CFM56-7B workscopes to the Winnipeg facility.

In February 2018, the U.S. Navy selected StandardAero as its support provider for the CFM56-7B engines powering the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft. Under this agreement, StandardAero provides CFM56-7B27 depot-level maintenance and repair services in support of P-8A aircraft operated by the U.S. Navy, the Royal Australian Air Force, and other Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers.

In 2022, StandardAero announced plans to introduce a CFM56-7B service centre at its Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, TX, facility, with the first customer engine shop visit performed in spring 2023. Full CFM56-7B test cell capabilities were added at the DFW facility’s state-of-the-art six-cell test complex in October 2023, enabling Boeing 737NG operators and other CFM56-7B asset owners to perform functional and performance engine testing.

Due to strong customer demand for CFM56-7B MRO services, StandardAero is finalising the completion of a new 147,000 sq. ft. building located adjacent to the DFW test complex, from where it will offer full CFM56-7B performance restoration shop visit (PRSV) capabilities later this year. This additional capability will prove especially convenient to Boeing 737NG operators in the United States and Central/South America, thanks to its close proximity to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

“Achievement of the 1,000th CFM56-7B shop visit is testament to the professionalism and customer focus of our engine support teams in Winnipeg and Dallas-Fort Worth,” said Peter Wheatley, Vice President & General Manager – CF34/CFM56 for StandardAero. “Our teams go out of their way to develop and deliver customised workscopes tailored to the needs of individual customers, and we look forward to further expanding our support of the global Boeing 737NG operator base as our new DFW facility begins to offer full PRSV workscopes later this year.”

StandardAero provides an extensive range of additional services for the CFM56 family, including component repair and overhaul capabilities through its Component Repair Services (CRS) division; engine, module and used serviceable material (USM) asset management support through PTS Aviation; and engine health monitoring (EHM) data analysis services.
