Japan Airlines (JAL) has finalised a firm order with Airbus for 20 A350-900 wide-body aircraft and 11 single-aisle A321neo aircraft, cementing a commitment initially announced earlier this year.

The order was confirmed at the Farnborough Air Show 2024 during a signing ceremony featuring Yukio Nakagawa, Executive Officer and Senior Vice President of Procurement at Japan Airlines, and Christian Scherer, Chief Executive Officer of Airbus Commercial Aircraft.

The new A350-900s will expand JAL’s fleet for international routes, while the A321neo aircraft will be used for domestic services within Japan. To date, JAL has ordered a total of 52 A350s, with 18 already in service. The A321neo contract marks JAL’s first order for Airbus’ single-aisle product line.
