SalamAir, Oman’s low fare airline, has announced plans to expand its fleet by adding ten new Airbus A320 aircraft over the next three years to accommodate increasing passenger demand. The airline has submitted formal requests to multiple aircraft leasing companies to secure these aircraft as part of its broader five-year growth strategy.

Adrian Hamilton-Manns, Chief Executive Officer of SalamAir, highlighted the success of the airline’s return to its low-fare model, which has resulted in high demand and full aircraft. “Our expansion over the next five years requires more aircraft to develop additional domestic and regional routes, as well as to introduce new destinations currently unserved by airlines. These steps will stimulate tourism in Oman and accelerate sector growth,” he stated. Hamilton-Manns also noted the growing competition in the budget travel sector, which he believes will drive fares lower, ultimately benefiting consumers.

In 2024, SalamAir transported over 3.2 million passengers, a 20% increase from 2023. The airline’s renewed focus on low fares has significantly boosted travel demand. To support this growth, the carrier will receive two new Airbus A321 aircraft in early 2025, bringing its fleet to 15. The planned addition of ten more A320s will expand the fleet to 25 aircraft by 2028.

Currently operating 13 Airbus A320/321 aircraft with over 80 daily flights, SalamAir continues to strengthen its position as Oman’s leading low-cost carrier.
