Sabena technics, an independent European MRO provider, and Aer Lingus, the Irish flag-carrying airline, have signed a memorandum of understanding outlining plans for future collaboration. Under the agreement, Sabena technics will carry out base maintenance and cabin enhancements on Aer Lingus’ Airbus A330 aircraft. The work will take place at Sabena technics’ Bordeaux facility over three winter maintenance seasons from 2026 to 2029.

Sabena technics is approaching two decades of collaboration with Aer Lingus, a partnership that spans from the hangar floor to senior management. “Each winter season, this strong relationship ensures seamless execution of base maintenance operations, and we are delighted that Ireland’s flag carrier has once again chosen our Bordeaux facility for heavy maintenance on its wide-body fleet, as well as extensive future proofing of its Airbus A330. This continued partnership reflects the deep MRO heritage we’ve built together — one that goes beyond measurable metrics and speaks to the strength of our shared values. This new phase will allow us to expand our resources and facility slot capabilities to meet the demands of this complex project, which will ensure that Aer Lingus’ A330s fleet continues to offer industry-leading comfort and quality into the future.” comments Hervé Grandjean, CEO of Sabena Technics

“Sabena technics has been a trusted maintenance partner to Aer Lingus for nearly two decades. Their consistent delivery, deep technical expertise, and shared commitment to operational excellence have played a pivotal role in supporting the safety, reliability, and performance of the Aer Lingus fleet. As we look ahead to the upcoming maintenance seasons, we are pleased to continue this valued partnership. In addition to maintaining high standards of service, the location of Sabena technics’ Bordeaux facility has also supported our sustainability goals, including efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions by optimising maintenance scheduling, allowing to minimise unnecessary repositioning flights. This collaboration reflects our mutual dedication to innovation, efficiency, and a more sustainable future for aviation.” states Javier Jimenez Aguilar, Aer Lingus Chief Technical Officer.
