Fiji Airways has confirmed the appointment of Paul Scurrah as the airline’s new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2025.
Scurrah brings to the role more than two decades of executive experience across aviation, transport, logistics and tourism. His proven record in leading complex organisations, driving cultural transformation, delivering strong results and creating value for stakeholders makes him an ideal leader for the next chapter of our growth.
Most recently, Scurrah served as Chief Executive Officer of Pacific National, Australia’s largest private rail freight company, where he led a comprehensive transformation programme focused on operational excellence, safety innovation and commercial sustainability. Under his leadership, the business invested in new technologies and rolling stock, strengthened customer partnerships and reinforced its critical role within the national supply chain.
Scurrah previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Australia, the country’s second-largest airline, where he built strong momentum across operations, employee engagement and customer satisfaction. He was widely recognised for his strategic leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the most challenging periods in modern aviation. With international travel brought to a standstill, Scurrah led a rapid and complex restructure that protected core routes, safeguarded jobs and positioned the airline for recovery.
Earlier in his career, Scurrah held senior roles at Queensland Rail and DP World Australia, where he led large-scale infrastructure upgrades, improved operations and strengthened stakeholder confidence. He also held executive positions in customer service, sales and distribution within the airline industry, including as a founding executive and investor in Rex Airlines.
