Eve Air Mobility has chosen BETA Technologies (BETA) to supply electric pusher motors for its conforming prototypes and future production aircraft. The decision marks a notable advance in Eve’s drive to industrialise its eVTOL programme and secure a resilient, high-quality supply chain.
With a firm backlog of 2,800 aircraft, Eve is reinforcing its manufacturing base through this strategic collaboration. The agreement outlines a potential ten-year opportunity for BETA valued at up to US$1 billion. It also reflects Eve’s broader commitment to integrating proven systems and meeting mission requirements as the company accelerates towards commercial operations.
The partnership follows an extensive evaluation campaign. Eve purchased, tested, and validated BETA’s electric motors using its engineering prototype, ensuring the technology meets performance expectations ahead of the aircraft’s first flight, now anticipated in late 2025 or early 2026. This structured assessment has allowed Eve to confirm the motors’ suitability for cruise propulsion and their role in maturing the company’s broader powertrain architecture.
Johann Bordais, Chief Executive Officer of Eve Air Mobility, described the agreement as a pivotal moment. He emphasised that BETA’s propulsion technology will be central to powering Eve’s aircraft in cruise, supporting the safety, efficiency, and reliability standards required for entry into service. Bordais also noted the alignment between the two companies, stressing Eve’s focus on suppliers who deliver robust engineering solutions and uphold rigorous safety expectations as urban air mobility moves closer to reality.
BETA Technologies develops and manufactures proprietary electric propulsion systems known for high power-to-weight ratios and leading energy-conversion efficiency. Its streamlined designs offer segment redundancy and contain far fewer components than conventional aircraft engines. This architecture reduces complexity, enhances safety margins, and keeps operating costs low—qualities that position BETA as a strong fit for next-generation eVTOL platforms.
Through this agreement, Eve and BETA have deepened their partnership, signalling meaningful progress towards delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable electric air transport at scale.
