Bombardier plans to build a new 126,000 ft², state-of-the-art manufacturing centre in Dorval, Québec, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy. Located close to the Challenger manufacturing centre and the Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre, the new facility will expand Bombardier’s industrial footprint and further strengthen its production capabilities.
The project represents an investment of approximately CA$100 million and forms part of Bombardier’s long-term strategy to increase productivity in response to growing demand for its business aircraft. The facility, which is scheduled to open before the end of 2027, is expected to create a range of skilled employment opportunities.
“This major investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting Bombardier’s growth and building the infrastructure required to maximise productivity,” said David Murray, Executive Vice President, Manufacturing, IT and Bombardier Operational Excellence System. “By expanding our manufacturing capacity, we are positioning the company to meet global demand and reinforce our leadership in business aviation. We also recognise the effectiveness of Investissement Québec’s support programmes. The ESSOR programme, which will partially finance our expansion through a repayable loan, supports Bombardier’s global growth objectives while creating high-quality jobs in Quebec.”
To support the project, Quebec’s Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, and Minister responsible for the Montérégie region, Christine Fréchette, will attend the event to announce a C$35 million repayable, non-forgivable loan under Investissement Québec’s ESSOR programme, administered by the Quebec government. The programme is designed to strengthen the province’s competitive manufacturing sector and overall economic vitality.
“By supporting the expansion of Bombardier, a world-class prime contractor, our government is generating significant economic benefits for Quebec’s entire supply chain and aerospace cluster,” said Christine Fréchette. “This investment will also create hundreds of highly skilled, well-paid jobs and further strengthen Quebec’s expertise. Through its know-how and capacity for innovation, Bombardier is helping to consolidate Quebec’s global position in this strategic sector, and I am proud to support this home-grown company.”
