Abelo has disclosed a further lease placement from its orderbook with Colombian regional carrier SATENA for one ATR 72-600 aircraft. The agreement follows the successful delivery of Abelo’s first ATR 42-600 to SATENA in December 2025 and represents another important milestone in the expanding partnership between the two organisations.
Stephen Gorman, Chief Executive Officer of Abelo acknowledged on the extended relationship with SATENA: “The addition of ATR 72-600 will support the airline’s mission to enhance regional connectivity across Colombia. We also value our continued collaboration with ATR in delivering efficient, modern turboprop aircraft to dynamic markets.”
Major General Oscar Zuluaga Castaño, President of SATENA commented: “The addition of these new aircraft reaffirms our vision for sustainable growth and our commitment to further strengthening Colombia’s regionalconnectivity. At SATENA, we continue to consolidate a modern, efficient fleet tailored to the country’s operational requirements, allowing us to reach territories where air travel is not an option, but a necessity. This expansion enhances our ability to drive social, economic, and tourism development in the regions, connecting opportunities and transforming lives in every destination we serve.”
The new aircraft will further enhance SATENA’s fleet, enabling the airline to connect remote and underserved communities while supporting economic growth across Colombia’s regions. The ATR platform is particularly well suited to the country’s varied geography, offering strong operational efficiency alongside a lower environmental impact.
