Alaska Air Group has appointed Mike Sievert to its board of directors. Sievert is the former Chief Executive Officer of T-Mobile and currently serves as vice chairman of the company’s board.
During his tenure as CEO, Sievert led a period of substantial growth and value creation at T-Mobile. The company’s market value increased from approximately $60 billion to around US$260 billion, while it strengthened its position in the US wireless market and improved customer loyalty and satisfaction. He joined T-Mobile in 2012 as Chief Marketing Officer, when the company’s market value was below US$10 billion.
Sievert also has strong ties to the Seattle business community, having lived in the region since 2002. He serves on the board of Starbucks and is a licensed pilot with a longstanding passion for aviation. He regularly flies his amphibious seaplane throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Before joining T-Mobile, Sievert held senior leadership positions at Microsoft, AT&T, E*TRADE, IBM and Procter & Gamble. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
