Southwest Airlines has appointed Jason Liberty, Chairman and Chief Executive of Royal Caribbean Group, and Varun Krishna, Chief Executive of Rocket Companies, to its Board of Directors with immediate effect.
The airline said the appointments will strengthen the board’s expertise in technology, digital innovation, commercial strategy and financial leadership as Southwest continues to execute its strategic priorities.
Liberty has led Royal Caribbean Group as Chief Executive since 2022 and became Chairman in 2025, having previously served as Chief Financial Officer for nine years. During more than two decades at the company, he has held senior roles across finance, strategy, technology and operations.
Krishna leads Rocket Companies, the financial technology group whose businesses include Rocket Mortgage and Redfin. Before joining Rocket, he held senior positions at Intuit, PayPal, Groupon and Microsoft.
Southwest said the two executives bring experience leading large, customer-focused companies through periods of growth and transformation.
