Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico can continue their joint venture after the US 11th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a Department of Transportation order requiring the carriers to end the partnership.
The ruling follows a legal challenge by Delta and Aeromexico to the DOT’s decision to terminate approval of their joint cooperation agreement.
The court’s decision overturns the termination order, allowing the two airlines to maintain their long-standing partnership.
Delta said the joint venture, which has operated for nearly a decade, has expanded customer choice and connectivity while supporting US employment and economic activity.
“We appreciate the 11th Circuit’s careful review and remain focused on ensuring our customers, employees and communities continue to benefit from this longstanding partnership,” Delta said.
The decision removes a major regulatory threat to the alliance and allows Delta and Aeromexico to continue coordinating their services between the US and Mexico.
