SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost carrier, is establishing Salalah’s first airline base, strengthening direct international connectivity from Dhofar and marking a new step in the airline’s expansion.

The new base will initially operate direct flights to three international destinations: Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Chattogram in Bangladesh and Calicut in India. Services scheduled to start at the end of October as part of SalamAir’s Winter 2026 schedule.

The move follows the airline’s increased support for travel to and from Salalah during the 2026 Khareef season. To meet higher demand, SalamAir increased capacity on the Muscat-Salalah route to as many as 15 daily flights during the peak period, adding thousands of seats.

The airline also introduced special fares for Omani nationals to support affordable domestic travel, with one-way fares starting at OMR 9.99. SalamAir said the measures helped accommodate the growing number of visitors to Dhofar and strengthened its role in the region’s tourism and travel sector during the Khareef season.

The new base will extend that role beyond the seasonal peak, providing year-round connectivity for residents and expatriate communities in Dhofar and more convenient direct access to key regional and international destinations.

SalamAir will operate the Salalah-based services with its Airbus A320neo and A321neo fleet. The airline currently has 18 aircraft, giving it additional capacity and flexibility to respond to demand across its network.
