Rolls-Royce has completed a decade-long, US$1 billion investment in its manufacturing, assembly and testing facilities in Indiana, strengthening its role in the US defence industrial base.
The investment, the largest Rolls-Royce has made in the US, has modernised advanced manufacturing capabilities at its Indianapolis campus and expanded engine testing capacity. This includes new ground-test facilities and an altitude test facility in West Lafayette.
The Indiana operations build and test engines for a range of defence and commercial platforms, including future engines for the US Air Force’s B-52 strategic bomber and the US Army’s MV-75 Cheyenne. The facilities also support current programmes including the V-22 Osprey, the US Navy’s MQ-25A Stingray and the C-130J.
Rolls-Royce employs around 3,500 people in Indianapolis, including members of the United Auto Workers (UAW), and supports thousands of additional jobs through its Indiana supply chain.
