Contrail Aviation Support (Contrail) has appointed Stuart G. Weinroth as Chief Executive, succeeding founder Joe Kuhn as the commercial jet engine trading and leasing company seeks to build on more than two decades of growth.
Weinroth brings more than 30 years of experience across the commercial aviation asset lifecycle, including roles with airlines, aircraft and engine lessors and suppliers to airlines and maintenance, repair and overhaul providers.
He joins Contrail from Air Transport Services Group, where he was global head and vice president of commercial operations and acquisitions. He led the expansion of the company’s freighter and engine portfolio.
Earlier in his career, Weinroth held senior investment and finance positions at Metolius Aviation Capital, GA Telesis, GMT Global Republic Aviation and Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, with experience in aircraft and engine trading, leasing and capital markets across Boeing and Airbus platforms.
Contrail said the appointment builds on the 26-year foundation established by Joe Kuhn and Miriam Cohen-Kuhn, who founded the company in 2000 and developed it into a global player in narrow-body aircraft and engine trading.
The company said its existing management team would provide continuity for customers and partners as it expands its market position.
Weinroth’s appointment is also expected to strengthen cooperation among the aviation businesses within Contrail’s parent company, Air T Inc., the company said.
