Aero Norway, an ITP Aero company specialising in MRO of CFM56 engines, has signed a multiyear agreement with GE Aerospace to perform shop visits on high-pressure turbine components for CFM LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines.
The deal is Aero Norway’s first of its kind and marks a step in the company’s expansion into the CFM LEAP engine market.
Under the agreement, Aero Norway will support GE Aerospace’s open MRO ecosystem by handling repairs of LEAP high-pressure turbine (HPT) rotors and HPT stage 2 nozzle assemblies. GE Aerospace is expanding its network of third-party MRO providers as demand for LEAP engine maintenance grows, with more than 8,000 engines currently in service and a backlog of more than 10,000.
“We are very proud to sign this agreement with GE Aerospace,” Aero Norway Chief Executive Officer Neil Russell said. “It represents a significant milestone in our CFM LEAP journey” and will help expand MRO capacity while maintaining quality and efficiency, he added.
Flavio Gregorio, Vice President of CFM LEAP and RISE programmes at GE Aerospace, said the agreement will support engine availability and utilisation for operators.
Aero Norway and ITP Aero bring more than three decades of MRO experience, Gregorio said, adding that their expertise will help improve maintenance performance for customers.
