Pegasus Airlines has completed its acquisition of Czech Airlines and Smartwings Group after securing all required regulatory approvals and meeting customary closing conditions.
The deal expands Pegasus’s international footprint and brings together two established airline businesses with complementary networks and operations. The combined fleet exceeds 175 aircraft, with further growth supported by firm orders for 140 planes already secured by the two carriers.
Pegasus, founded in 1990 and operating under a low-cost model since 2005, currently serves 161 destinations in 57 countries. The airline operates one of the industry’s youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets.
Smartwings Group, together with the Czech Airlines brand, is one of the longest-established airline groups in Central and Eastern Europe. It serves 80 destinations across 20 countries and has established partnerships with major tour operators.
The companies said the combination will bring together Pegasus’s international network, operating expertise and low-cost model with Smartwings’ established position in the Central and Eastern European leisure market.
Smartwings will continue to operate under the Smartwings and Czech Airlines brands, retaining its existing day-to-day operations, customer relationships and service delivery. The group will also gain opportunities to expand its operations, develop new services and support employee growth, the companies said.
