Qantas Freight has received the first of three additional Airbus A321 converted freighters under a long-standing partnership with Australia Post, increasing capacity to meet growing parcel demand across Australia.
The three aircraft will boost capacity across the airline’s dedicated freighter network by up to 20%, allowing it to carry up to 20,000 Australia Post and StarTrack parcels per flight. The remaining two aircraft are due to join the fleet by March 2027.
The larger A321 freighters will replace smaller BAE 146-300 aircraft, support overnight and next-day deliveries while improve network efficiency and reducing emissions, the companies said.
The expansion follows a ten-year extension of the Qantas Freight and Australia Post partnership, which dates back to 1922. The renewed agreement covers the transport of more than 75 million parcels and other freight items annually across Australia and overseas.
