3TOP Aviation Services has acquired three Airbus A321F converted freighters, marking its entry into the cargo aircraft market and extending its narrow-body investment portfolio.
The aircraft, previously operated by SmartLynx, are powered by CFM56-5B3/P engines and were converted from passenger to freighter configuration by Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW). They will be integrated into 3TOP’s existing asset portfolio.
The acquisition represents a further development of the company’s narrow-body investment strategy, building on its experience with the Airbus A320 family. The company said the deal would broaden its portfolio as demand for the A321 freighter continues to develop in the global cargo market.
“Securing our first freighter package is an exciting step for 3TOP and adds another dimension to our growing narrow-body portfolio,” said Chris Emechete, Chief Executive of 3TOP.
Completing a three-aircraft transaction in a competitive acquisition market demonstrates the company’s ability to identify and execute opportunities offering long-term value, he added.
Emechete said the company was particularly pleased to enter the freighter segment with the A321F, which it believes will play an increasingly important role in the global cargo market.
