Singapore Airlines (SIA) is investing more than S$2 billion in new long-haul cabin products across all four travel classes, with the first installations scheduled for the second half of 2027.
The new first-class, business-class, premium-economy and economy-class products will be introduced progressively on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and A350-900 ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft, as well as the airline’s future Boeing 777-9 fleet.
The 777-9 aircraft will feature the complete range of new cabin products. The retrofitted A350-900 long-haul aircraft will receive the new business-class seats, while the A350-900ULR fleet will also introduce first-class cabins for the first time.
The investment forms part of SIA’s broader strategy to enhance the end-to-end travel experience, with the new cabins designed to offer greater comfort, privacy and flexibility for passengers travelling long distances.
The airline said the designs were informed by research involving more than 5,000 frequent travellers, customers, employees and industry experts worldwide. The research included focus groups, interviews, surveys and concept testing to assess how passengers use their time on board.
The findings highlighted growing demand for greater privacy and comfort, intuitive functionality, flexibility and improved connectivity, alongside cabin environments that better accommodate individual preferences for working, dining, relaxing and sleeping.
