Intrepid Aviation announced the acquisition of one A330-300 equipped with two General Electric CF6-80E1A4 engines. The aircraft (MSN 1367) was manufactured in late 2012 and has since been on lease to China Airlines. This is the second A330-300 aircraft Intrepid has acquired on lease to the Taiwan-based airline.
Embraer and Republic Airways signed a contract for the sale and purchase of 50 firm E175 jets. The value of the firm order, which will be included in Embraer’s 2014 third-quarter backlog, is estimated at US$2.1bn, based on 2014 list prices. GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing arm of GE, reported that its engine leasing unit completed a purchase-and-leaseback transaction with TUI Travel for two new GEnx engines. The engines will be used as spares to support the TUI Travel airlines’ Boeing 787 fleet.
TrueAero reported that it acquired three CFM56-5C4/P engines. The first engine will immediate be part-out in support of the parts re-distribution business while two will remain on lease to the operator and will be parted out at a later date.
