GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) completed a purchase-and-leaseback transaction with Aerovías De Mexico S.A.de C.V., (Aeromexico), for a new GEnx engine. The engine will be used as a spare to support the airline’s Boeing 787 fleet.
Boeing and Japan Transocean Air (JTA) finalized an order for 12 Next-Generation 737-800 airplanes. The arrival of the new 737-800s in 2016 will mark the start of the airline’s fleet renewal program. GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) delivered a new Embraer E190LR aircraft to Montenegro Airlines to expand the carrier’s fleet. The aircraft is from GECAS’ existing order book with Embraer. Montenegro Airlines currently operates a fleet of nine aircraft to destinations in Europe.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration approved additional extended operations (ETOPS) for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The move will allow 787s to be operated up to 330 minutes from a landing field and signals continued confidence in the airplane’s technical capabilities.
