Lao Airlines, the national carrier of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Laos), has signed a contract with Airbus for the purchase of two A320 aircraft, becoming a new Airbus customer. Boeing received certification for the all-new 787 Dreamliner from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) during a ceremony at the company’s Everett, Wash., facility. Boeing also released that ANA, launch customer of the 787 Dreamliner, is taking delivery of the first aircraft on September 25th.
Aeroflot Russian Airlines puts its second Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft (SSJ100) into operation. The airliner will perform scheduled flights on route Moscow — St. Petersburg — Moscow. Sukhoi Superjet 100 SN 95010 was delivered to Aeroflot under contract with VEB-Leasing JSC on financial lease. Aeroflot ordered 30 SSJ100 aircraft in total. In the future the carrier plans to purchase ten more.
Delta Air Lines announced an order for 100 Next-Generation 737-900ER (extended range) airplanes. The order, with a list-price value of more than $8.5 billion, is part of Delta’s fleet renewal effort to replace its less efficient domestic airplanes. Delta ordered 200 CFM56-7BE engines to power the new aircrafts, scheduled to begin delivery in 2013. The
China Eastern Airlines took delivery of its first Next-Generation 737-700 outfitted with both the High-Altitude/High-Temperature Airport Operations Feature Package and the new Boeing Sky Interior from Boeing. China Eastern will operate the aircraft at the high altitude airports in western China. The airplane will be assigned to China Eastern Airlines Sichuan Co., based in Chengdu.
MTU Aero Engines kicked off GEnx turbine center frame deliveries on Wednesday, August 24, when it handed the first production module over to GE Aviation. GE Capital Aviation Services Limited (GECAS) announced delivery of two new Boeing 737-800 aircraft leased to Japanese low-cost carrier Skymark Airlines. The aircraft come from GECAS’ existing order book with Boeing. With bases at Tokyo International Airport and Kobe Airport, Skymark now operates a fleet of 20 Boeing 737-800s to 12 destinations in Japan.

Air Transport Services Group released that Cargo Aircraft Management, (CAM), its aircraft leasing subsidiary, has delivered a second Boeing 767 wide body freighter to RIO Linhas Aéreas, S.A., of Brazil.
