American Airlines has entered into a purchase agreement with Boeing under which American intends to acquire an initial 42 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners scheduled for delivery beginning in 2012 and ending in 2018, with the right to purchase up to 58 additional 787s that may be scheduled for delivery beginning in 2015 and ending in 2020.

Aviation Capital Group reported its activity for the third quarter. ACG ended the quarter with the delivery of the first of two new Airbus A330-200s to Avianca Airlines, the national carrier of Colombia. Copa Airlines has taken delivery of its 14th Embraer 190 aircraft. The acquisition brings the total number of aircraft in the Panamanian airline’s fleet to 41. The Embraer 190 has seating for 94 passengers, with 10 in Business Class (Clase Ejecutiva) and 84 in coach.

Airbus has selected B/E Aerospace as its supplier of next generation galley systems for the new A350 XWB aircraft. B/E Aerospace values the award at more than $1.0 billion. Program deliveries for the A350 XWB will commence in 2013.
