Republic Airways Holdings reported preliminary passenger traffic results for March 2009. Traffic decreased 0.3% from the same month last year, while capacity increased 3.9%. The load factor was 73.6% versus 76.7% in March 2008.
Austrian Airlines reported that capacity decreased 14.2% in February 2009, while the load factor stood at 69.1%, 3.0 percentage points lower than 2008. The Group carried around 603,000 passengers on its scheduled and charter services in February, or 16.4% lower than the previous year.
Iberia reported that the load factor in February 2009 stood at 76.4% in the overall network, 2.7 points below the level reached one year ago. Delta Air Lines announced plans to reduce international capacity an additional 10% beginning in September. These reductions will be targeted to areas where Delta has seen the most revenue weakness – the Atlantic and Pacific networks. Trans-Atlantic capacity will be down 11 – 13% this winter and trans-Pacific will be down 12 – 14% compared
Finnair traffic increased by 2.5%, compared to the same period in 2008. Capacity decreased by 0.7%, while ther load factor was 2.4 percentage points higher than the year before, 77.2%. The number of passengers carried decreased by 7.9% and was 597 029.
On a combined basis, Delta and Northwest’ traffic in February 2009 decreased 11.0% compared to February 2008 on a 7.8% decrease in capacity, and load factor declined 2.7 points to 74.3%.
For the month of February 2009, Copa Holdings’ system-wide passenger traffic increased 9.5%, while capacity increased 14.8%. System load factor for February 2009 was 74.5%, a 3.6 percentage point decrease when compared to February 2008.
AirFrance-KLM reported that February traffic fell 2.6% with capacity down 1.1% (-6.0% and -4.5% on an actual number of days basis). The load factor declined by 1.2 points to 74.3%.
BA released that February 2009 passenger capacity was 9.0% below Feburary 2008. Traffic fell by 8.3%, which resulted in a passenger load factor increase of 0.5 points versus last year, to 72.0%.
easyJet load factor improved by 2.4 percentage points in February compared to the prior year. The number of passengers flown by easyJet in February 2009 was 6.8% below February 2008.
