US Airways Group reported January 2008 traffic results. Traffic for the month was down 0.9% from January 2007. Capacity was down 2.7% from January 2007and passenger load factor for the month of January was 75.2%, up 1.4 points versus January 2007.
In January 2008, passenger capacity was 0.6% below January 2007 and traffic fell 1.6%. This resulted in a passenger load factor down 0.7 points versus last year, to 69.2%.
American Airlines reported a January load factor of 76.6% an improvement of 1.3 points compared to the same period last year. Traffic increased 0.2% year over year as capacity decreased 1.5 %.
American Eagle reported a January load factor of 65.3% an improvement of 0.9 points compared to the same period last year. Traffic decreased 4.0% year over year as capacity decreased 5.3%. American Eagle boarded 1.5 million passengers in January.
Republic Airways Holdings reported preliminary passenger traffic results for January 2008. Trafffic increased 34.1% over the same month last year, while capacity increased 30.6%. Load factor was 65.6% versus 63.9% in January 2007.
Ryanair reported a 17% increase in traffic for January 2008 while the load factor for the month was down 2pts to 69%.
GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes S.A. released preliminary passenger statistics for the month of January 2008. Total System traffic was up 40.1% compared to January 2007, capacity was up 54.4% and the laod factor for the month was down -7.0 pts to 68.5%.
AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings reported record traffic for the month of January 2008. The airline reported that January traffic grew 14.4% based on a 5.5% increase in capacity. The company’s load factor for the month was 67.4 percent, up 5.2 points from January 2007.
Continental Airlines reported a January consolidated (mainline plus regional) load factor of 76.8%, 0.5 points above the January 2007 consolidated load factor. Traffic increased 2.9% and capacity increased 2.1% as compared to January 2007.
QantasLink had been awarded new Air Service Contracts by the Queensland Government. These contracts will allow QantasLink to continue to serve Western and Far North Queensland communities for a further five years. QantasLink recently invested $400 million in an additional 12 new Q400s which will allow the airline to upgrade capacity on key regional routes.
