Frontier Airlines, a subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings, reported preliminary traffic results for August 2012. For the month, Frontier’s load factor of 92% compared to 90% in August 2011. Frontier’s traffic decreased 11% and capacity decreased 13% compared to the same period in 2011.
SAS Group’s August 2012 traffic increas 6.9% year over year, while capacity increased 4.5%. The load factor for August was up 1.8 points to 78.8% compared to the previous year.
Norwegian released that traffic for August increased 18% compared to the same period in 2011, while capacity increased 21%. The load factor for August fell 2.o points to 80% compared to the previous year.
For the month of August, Air Canada reported a system load factor of 87.9% versus 87.8% in August 2011, an increase of 0.1 points. System traffic increased 0.7%, on a system-wide capacity increase of 0.6%.
Hawaiian Airlines released that traffic increased 9% in August 2012 while capacity increased 1% year over year. The load factor for the month was the same as the previous year, 84.3%.
In August, Finnair traffic rose by 9.9% as the overall capacity grew 4.6% year‐on‐year. Passenger load factor improved by 3.9 points and was 80.8%.
For the month of August 2012, Copa Holdings’ system-wide traffic increased 24.4% year over year, while capacity increased 26.6%. As a result, system load factor for August 2012 was 73.8%, a 1.3 percentage point decrease when compared to August 2011.
WestJet August 2012 traffic increased 9.2% year over year and capacity grew 2.3% over the same period. The load factor for the month increased 5.6 points to 88.9%.
Alaska reported an 8.1% increase in traffic on a 7.4% increase in capacity compared to August 2011. This resulted in a 0.6-point increase in load factor to an all-time monthly record of 88.9%.
