Alaska reported a 4.3% increase in traffic on a 4.3% increase in capacity compared to April 2013. This resulted in a flat load factor of 86.8%. Horizon reported April traffic and capacity that was similar with April 2013, and the resulting load factor was consistent at 78.3%.
WestJet announced April 2014 traffic results with a load factor of 82.3%. Traffic increased 6.5% year-over-year and capacity grew 7.1% over the same period.
Southwest Airlines released that March 2014 traffic increased 1.6% compared to the previous year, while capacity increased 0.8% from March 2013. The March 2014 load factor was 82.7%, compared to 82.0% in March 2013.
American Airlines Group’s total traffic for the month was up 0.9% versus March 2013. Total capacity was up 2.9% year over year. Total passenger load factor was 81.8% for the month of March, down 1.6 points versus March 2013.
SAS reported March traffic increase of 3.3% compared to March 2013, while capacity improved by 8.4% year over year. Load factor decreased by 3.4 points to 69.5%.
In March 2014, Finnair’s overall capacity decreased by 3.9% year-on-year and traffic decreased by 5.4% year‐on‐year. Passenger load factor decreased by 1.2 points and was 79.0%.
Ryanair released that traffic for the month of March was down 4%, while the load factor in March 2014 increased 1.0 point to 80%.
Norwegian carried more than 1.8m passengers in March 2014, an increase of 25% compared to the same month last year, total passenger traffic increased by 52%, while capacity increased by 51% this month. The load factor was 77.8% in March, up 0.2 points.
In March 2014, IAG traffic increased by 10.2% versus March 2013, Group capacity rose by 13.2%. Group load factor for March was down 2.2 points to 77.6% when compared to the previous year.
For the month of March, Air Canada reported a system wide traffic growth of 1.4% on a capacity increase of 3.6%. Air Canada’s system load factor was 81.7%, versus 83.5% in March 2013, a decrease of 1.8 points.
