For the month of May 2013, Copa Holdings’ system-wide passenger traffic increased 23.6% year over year, while capacity increased 18.8%. As a result, system load factor for May 2013 was 75.3%, a 2.9 percentage point increase when compared to May 2012.
Virgin America’s May 2013 traffic rose 4.8% on a 1.0% decline in capacity, when compared to May 2012. Load factor for May 2013 was 82.9%, up 4.6 points from May 2012. The number of onboard passengers rose 10.6 percent from the same month in 2012.
Cebu Pacific has taken delivery of its first A330-300 during a special ceremony in Toulouse. The aircraft is the first of four A330s being leased by Cebu Pacific from US lessor CIT and will be used to launch the carrier’s new long haul low fare operations.
SAS Group’s capacity was up by 4.7% and the Group’s traffic increased by 1.5% when compared to May 2012. The SAS Group’s load factor decreased by 2.3 points to 73.0%.
Republic Airways released that traffic in May 2013 decreased 1% from May 2012, on a 2% reduction in capacity. Consolidated load factor increased one point to 84% from May 2012.
United Airlines’ May 2013 consolidated traffic decreased 0.8% and consolidated capacity decreased 1.7% versus May 2012. UAL’s May 2013 consolidated load factor increased 0.8 points to 84.4% compared to May 2012.
AMR Corporation reported May 2013 consolidated traffic results for its principal subsidiary, American Airlines and its wholly owned subsidiary, AMR Eagle Holding Corporation. Consolidated load factor in May was an all-time record high for the month, at 84.0%, 0.4 points higher versus the same period last year. Consolidated capacity and traffic were 0.3% and 0.8%
Finnair traffic rose by 4.9% in May 2013 and the overall capacity grew 3.9% compared to the previous year. Passenger load factor improved by 0.7 percentage points and was 75.1%.
Ryanair released passenger and load factor stats for May 2013, with its monthly traffic increasing by 5%. The load factor for the month was up 1.0 point to 82%.
Norwegian reported that May traffic increased 34% when compared to May 2012, while capacity increased 33%. The load factor for the month was 77%, slightly higher than in May 2012.
