AirTran Airways reported traffic for the month of April 2009. Traffic was up 0.3% compared to the same period last year, capacity was down 7.9% and the load factor for the month of April was up 6.5 pts to 80.4%

American Airlines reported an April load factor of 81.3% an increase of 1.2 points versus the same period last year. Traffic decreased 4.7% and capacity decreased 6.1% year over year.

ExpressJet’s March revenue passenger miles totaled 670 million, and available seat miles flown were 889 million. ExpressJet’s March load factor was 75.4%. The company flew 58,621 block hours and operated 30,045 departures during the month. ExpressJet had a total of 244 planes in its fleet during March – 214 allocated to flying as Continental Express

GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes S.A., released preliminary passenger statistics for the month of March 2009. Domestic passenger traffic for March 2009 decreased 1.3% and capacity increased 0.1% year-over-year. Domestic load factor for the month was 57% and international load factor was 44%. GOL’s total system load factor for the month of March was 55%.

SAS Group’s traffic decreased by 16.7% during March and seat capacity was down 3.9% vs. 2008. SAS Group carried 2.2 million passengers in March, down 9.3% vs. 2008, Load factor in February was down by 9.9 p.u. to 64.5%.

WestJet announced March traffic results with a load factor of 81.9%. Traffic increased 0.6% year over year and capacity, grew 6.3% over the same period last year.

Delta Air Lines reported traffic results for March 2009. System traffic in March 2009, including both Delta and Northwest operations, decreased 12.6% compared to March 2008 on a 7.9% decrease in capacity, and load factor declined 4.4 points to 80.5%.

JetBlue Airways reported that its traffic in March decreased 8.5% from March 2008, on a capacity decrease of 5.6%. Load factor for March 2009 was 79.3%, a decrease of 2.5 points from March 2008.

Alaska reported an increase in load factor to 81.6% in March 2009, compared to 80.8% in March 2008, on a 9.0% decline in capacity compared to the prior-year period.
