WestJet announced February traffic results with a load factor of 82.6%. Traffic increased 5.5% year over year and capacity grew 5.7% over the same period.

United Airlines reported its preliminary consolidated traffic results for February 2009. The company reported a February consolidated passenger load factor of 73.2%, down 1.0 pts, total consolidated traffic decreased in February by 15.2% on a consolidated capacity decrease of 14.0% compared with the same period in 2008.

US Airways Group reported February 2009 traffic results. Mainline traffic for the month was down 9.3% versus February 2008. Capacity was down 9.3% versus February 2008 and the load factor for the month of February was 77.2%, or flat versus February 2008.

Continental Airlines reported a February consolidated (mainline plus regional) load factor of 72.5%, 3.5 points below the February 2008 consolidated load factor. Continental reported a consolidated traffic decrease of 13.2% and a consolidated capacity decrease of 8.9% as compared to February 2008.

Southwest Airlines announced that traffic in February 2009 decreased 6.0%, capacity decreased 6.5% from the February 2008 level and the load factor for the month was 69.1% compared to 68.6% for the same period last year.

AirTran Airways reported a February traffic decrease of 13.9% compared to the same period in 2008, capacity decreased 9.1% while the load factor was down 3.9 pts to 74.2%.

Austrian Airlines Group carried some 632,000 passengers in January (scheduled and charter), 13.0% fewer than January last year. The overall load factor stood at 65.4%, 4.3 percentage points below the figure for January 2008. Iberia reported that January 2009 capacity was down 8.1%, traffic decreased by 12.0% while load factor stood at 74.0%, falling 3.3 points with respect to the level reached one year before.

BA reported that January 2009 passenger capacity was 2.6% below January 2008 and traffic fell by 1.3%. This resulted in a passenger load factor increase of 1.0 points versus last year, to 73.2%.
