Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific Airways has ordered eight Boeing 777 Freighters and four 777-300ER (extended range) airplanes. The order is valued at $3.3 billion at list prices. With this announcement, Cathay Pacific becomes the 15th customer to order the 777 Freighter and increases its Boeing 777-300ER fleet to 50.

Air Canada reported second quarter operating income of C$73 million compared to operating income of C$47 million in the second quarter of 2010, an improvement of $26 million.  Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and impairment, and aircraft rent (EBITDAR) of $338 million increased $10 million from the same quarter in 2010. SAS Group’s traffic increased by 7.7% during July and capacity increased 6.7% compared to the same period in 2010. The load factor increased by 0.8 pts in July to a record high of 85.6%.

In July 2011 IAG traffic rose by 3.5% versus July 2010 while capacity was up 2.9%. The load factor for the month reached 85.7%, up 0.6 pts from the previous year.

AirFrance KLM released that traffic for the month of July rose 6.9%, while capacity was up by 5.4%, leading to a 1.2 point rise in load factor to 87.3%. 

American Airlines reported a July load factor of 87.7%, an increase of 0.7 points versus the same period last year. Traffic increased 1.7% and capacity increased 0.9% year-over-year.

Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has delivered its first new Embraer aircraft from the direct order placed at the Farnborough International Air-Show in 2010. This is ALC’s first of six CF34-10E7-powered E190s leased to TRIP Linhas Aéreas.
