Southwest Airlines flew 5.1 billion revenue passenger miles in October

Southwest Airlines Co. announced that the Company flew 5.1 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in October 2005, compared to 4.5 billion RPMs flown in October 2004. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 8.2 percent to 7.3 billion from the October 2004 level of 6.8 billion. The load factor for the month was 70.4 percent, compared to 66.6 percent for October 2004.

For the ten months ended October 31, 2005, Southwest flew 50.2 billion RPMs, compared to 44.8 billion RPMs for the same period in 2004. Available seat miles increased 11.6 percent to 70.7 billion from the 2004 level of 63.4 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 71.0 percent, compared to 70.6 percent for the same period last year.
