Lufthansa ground staff on short time

In face of declining passenger numbers, Lufthansa is considering the introduction of short time in the passenger business. The envisaged measure would affect around 1,000 ground staff, mostly employed on customer services and support, at several stations in Germany. The details prior to submitting an application are to be worked out with employee representatives in the coming weeks. Short time is not warranted currently by the situation at the Frankfurt and Munich hubs. Lufthansa guarantees staff on short time at least 90% of their net pay. The airline employs around 31,000 staff in the passenger business segment.
