Nordam part of joint STARS re-engining program

NORDAM announced that it is under contract with Seven Q Seven to produce new engine pylons and cowl doors for two United States Air Force E-8C Joint STARS (Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System) aircraft. The E-8C is an airborne battle management, command and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform whose primary mission is to provide theater ground and air commanders with ground surveillance. The aircraft is heavily used overseas in support of the Army and Marine Corps ground troops, operations.

The new engines will allow the aircraft to be more fuel efficient, climb faster, allow more time on station while operating at higher altitudes. The contract covers two shipsets with possible opportunities for an additional 17 shipsets. The first shipset will be delivered in early 2011.
