After receiving the EASA approval from the German aviation authorities in April, the Lufthansa Technik Mainbase Engine Shop at Frankfurt has commenced the comprehensive servicing of Rolls-Royce Trent 900 three-shaft turbofan engines. These engines power Airbus A380s for Lufthansa and other airlines.The EASA approval qualifies the engine shop to conduct a large number of inspections and repair procedures on the Trent 900. The same services are already offered for Rolls-Royce Trent 500 and Trent 700 engines through an agreement with the engine manufacturer signed in 2007, which also includes the Trent 900.
The close cooperation between Lufthansa Technik and Rolls-Royce also includes the overhaul of Trent engines at the joint venture N3 Engine Overhaul Services in Arnstadt, Thuringia, Germany, which will also handle overhauls of the Trent 900 used on the world
