All Nippon Airways (ANA) reported that Boeing will investigate a landing gear problem on a 787 Dreamliner after pilots had to deploy a manual backup system when a cockpit monitor showed that the wheels were not fully down. The aircraft landed safely at Okayama airport on its second attempt. Boeing did not confirm reports that the incident was linked to a faulty hydraulic valve, but said it was investigating the problem. ANA took delivery of the first 787 in September after a three-year delay, and operated its first commercial flight last week.
