airberlin technik to maintain Etihad Airways aircraft in Düsseldorf

On the back of the recent launch of direct Etihad Airways flights from Abu Dhabi to Düsseldorf, and last month’s historic deal between the United Arab Emirates flag carrier and Germany’s second largest airline, airberlin technik – the technical wing of airberlin – continues to grow its maintenance customer base. At Düsseldorf, airberlin technik will be responsible for the transit check on Etihad Airways’ Airbus A330 three-class aircraft. Likewise, Etihad Airways will be responsible for undertaking transit checks on airberlin aircraft in Abu Dhabi. With its maintenance workforce of 1,162 employees, Düsseldorf is airberlin technik’s largest facility. Two hangars cover a total area of 29,000m² and provide space for up to four widebody or 12 narrowbody aircraft.
