Goodrich has signed an agreement with Rolls-Royce to provide nacelle maintenance services for British Airways under the engine maker’s Total Care support program. The contract is scheduled to start upon delivery of British Airways’ first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in 2013. The agreement, which is the first for a Boeing 787 under Goodrich Aerostructures’ Prime Solutions suite of aftermarket services, will enable Rolls-Royce to provide British Airways with a fully integrated propulsion system support program.
Goodrich and Rolls-Royce have been working on the 787 propulsion system since before program launch in 2004. “The Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine and the Goodrich nacelle system are highly integrated. It makes sense to combine the two systems into an all-encompassing service offering to optimize the support programs of both organizations,” said Goodrich Aerostructures president Marc Duvall.
