Despite systematically reducing capacity by 10.5% in the first quarter of 2012, Air Berlin increased sales figures by 4% to €812.9m (€781.6m in 2011) compared with the same quarter of the previous year. Capacity utilisation went up by 3.9 percentage points to 76.4% (72.5% in 2011). Yield rose by 7.3% to €109.8 (€102.4 in 2011). EBITDAR (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, Amortisation and Rent) improved by 128% to €7.2m (€-25.7 in 2011), EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) went up 20.7% to €-149.3m (€-188.3m in 2011), and net loss went down by 14.6% to €-102.9m (€-120.6m in 2011).
