Braathens Aviation sells Avro RJ70 to QinetiQ

On behalf of Braathens Aviation of Norway, Skyworld Aviation announced the sale of an Avro RJ70 aircraft to British defence technology company QinetiQ. Serial number E1254, now registered as G-BVRJ, was ferried to MOD Boscombe Down in Wiltshire on Monday 19th March. The acquisition of this aircraft comes after QinetiQ purchased an Avro RJ100 in late 2011 which is currently undergoing maintenance and modification at Avalon Aero at Cranfield, UK. It is understood that the Avro RJ70 will also undergo significant modification prior to being utilised for test and evaluation training in QinetiQ’s Empire Test Pilots’ School (ETPS) in Wiltshire, alongside the RJ100.
