Lufthansa Technik Sofia inaugurates newly extended MRO facility

The Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov has recently inaugurated the new extended state-of-the-art MRO facility of the German-Bulgarian Joint Venture company Lufthansa Technik Sofia at Sofia Airport. The inauguration represents the official completion of the successful facility extension which started in 2011. Over the past year the company has added three additional bays to the existent two and has increased the number of employees to more than 600 people. Today, the expanded hangars allow for the servicing of six narrow-body aircraft in parallel and for the completion of 60 heavy checks per year. In 2011 Lufthansa Technik Sofia has been entrusted with the Base and Line maintenance service of the Bulgarian national carrier – “Bulgaria Air’s” fleet.
